Morgan Design Associates and ELAN General Contracting
Sponsor Challenging Design Internship

Project Teams Student Bridgette Aliberti With Seasoned Pros to
Develop Prototype Future Retail Store for Major National Chain

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – (WIRE SERVICE) – August 24,2010 –
Morgan Design Associates, Golden, Colorado, and ELAN General Contracting, Inc., headquartered in San Diego, California, today announced the successful completion of a unique and challenging student intern program in which they participated.

The two companies have a long design/build history spanning 30-plus years and a variety of commercial projects spread from Maui to Manhattan and beyond – and together they recently designed and built over 100-plus commercial stores for just one national retail chain alone.

In May 2010, Designer William Morgan was contacted by Bridgette Aliberti, a 23-year old senior in her final year of studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design, with a specialization in Sustainable Green Design, at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) in Denver. A key element in the senior year curriculum is a required 135-hours of hands-on experience with a professional design firm and she had set her sights on working with one of the best.

Morgan Design Associates and ELAN General Contracting currently have a number of projects at varying stages of development and – responding positively to Aliberti’s request – they not only agreed to mutually sponsor her paid internship, but they decided they would raise the bar challenge-wise.

Over the next three months, Aliberti would not be fulfilling the normal mundane tasks usually assigned to a new recruit intern, but rather would be directly teamed with William Morgan to play a key role in the conceptual design of a prototype “store of the future” for a real top national retail chain that is scheduled for   presentation and actual consideration this Fall.

"Internships are an integral part of an interior design student's educational preparation," notes Lauren Pillote, Dean of Design + Applied Arts and Chair of the Interior Design Department. "We are so very pleased that Bridgette's internship has become an opportunity for her to actively participate as a member of a design team with such an esteemed designer and established contractor. This level of involvement in a project is rare and allows young designers to experience their future professions from a perspective that cannot be reproduced in the classroom."

Just this week, William Morgan and Bridgette Aliberti have put the finishing touches on the collaborative design and, in conjunction with ELAN General Contracting, it is being readied for big-time professional scrutiny.

“ We are extremely pleased with Bridgette’s contribution to our prototype development,” states designer William Morgan. “ She has advanced knowledge of computer skills, with an excellent understanding of AutoCAD and Sketch Up programs, and was able to contribute a great deal to the design and development of this new prototype store concept.”

“We will also be sending this information to our sponsoring partner, ELAN General Contracting, to assist in establishing a budget and time schedule for the construction of this type of store,” Morgan adds. “As soon as this is complete we will make the presentation to our client.”

Who knows? You may very soon be shopping in a fashionably forward-thinking new retail store that was conceived, in part, by one of tomorrow’s new up and coming young designers – Bridgette Aliberti – thanks to a generous opportunity offered by Morgan Design Associates and ELAN General Contracting.
